New sparkly gems like these three pendants by Bill Booze
A trio of pendants

Bill Booze is a master faceter of gemstones. That means he starts off with rough stones like these peridot samples…

New sparkly gems start out like this

Now look at the pendent on the left again, to see the result of Bill’s amazing skill in faceting gemstones to reveal the utmost clarity and sparkle within. Here’s that pendant on to give you an idea of the proportions.

On the left, a pale pink morganite gem faceted by Bill Booze captures the imagination. In the same family as aquamarine (beryl), it is strong and brilliant with lots of sparkly – especially because of the additional facets Bill always adds to the underside of the gems he cuts. A simple sterling setting lets the stone show off its clarity. $400. Available in any size you need.

On the right is a spectacular smoky quartz stone, also faceted by Bill Booze. A very cool setting features an unusual sterling band with a squared-off top and 14k yellow gold prongs. $450. Available in any size you need.

New Sparkly Gems – Earrings

Okay, they’re actually glass that is as pretty as a gemstone. Enjoy these lovely new choices from Passiko.

Passiko tells the story about these mis-matched earrings she calls “Best Friend” earrings. Why is that? When you have a best friend, you have a lot of things in common…but not everything. Just like these earrings. Individually crafted from heavy sterling wire into beguiling curves and twists, and adorned with a hand-made glass bead by another artist from Washington’s peninsula. One-of-a-kind of course. These four are priced $32 – $38.

Thanks for coming along to see our new sparkly gems – and glass. Stop by to see them in person, and say hi!

Beautiful Garnet Jewelry in Silver

Beautiful garnet jewelry like this unique necklace featuring five hand-faceted sparkly garnets by Bill Booze.
Classic Garnet Jewelry Fit For a Queen

Our top choice for beautiful garnet jewelry is by Bill Booze. A master faceter, Bill selects top grade stones that are still rough, and carves off each little ledge, each facet, to capture the most intense color and sparkle possible in each stone. After honing his skill for over 30 years, Bill’s stones are unrivaled in depth of color and perfection.

Bill usually focuses on a single stone in a pendant, or a pair in earrings. This five-stone necklace is a rare treat due to not only the perfectly matched stones, but also the classical elegant design that you might find on the queen in a period movie. Think of the jewelry in “Elizabeth” or “Titanic”, and you’ll be reminded of the feminine power of the jewelry of that time. Now you can own it yourself!

But you also have scoop neck tops in your closet, in which case you can simply “swing” the necklace around so it forms a “U” that fits perfectly with your scoop neck tops!

Beautiful Garnet Jewelry in Gold

Beautiful garnet jewelry with gold-fill metal by Shari Both creates a regal effect.
Garnet with gold, by Shari Both

Maybe you’ve met Shari. She works the gallery every other Wednesday, and has been with us since the earliest of days. Have you ever noticed our lovely sunshine walls? Shari helped paint those before we even opened our doors! In addition to excellent painting skills, Shari has been a jewelry designer for even longer. Inspired by antique jewelry and the elegance of times past, Shari updates that mood with wire and gemstones to create gorgeous pieces like this one here which she brought just last Wednesday when she was working the floor.

You’ll see the beautiful deep red garnets dangling from the gold-fill four-petal flower she created herself out of wire, but what are the charming pink stones there too? Lovely pink tourmaline accents add a note of depth to this unusual and charming necklace that is now available at MaJe Gallery.

Cheerful Colors Cheers Us Up In Dreary January

Cheerful colors are good medicine for these dark, dreary days of January. We got some colorful deliveries last week I want to share with you.

Cheerful Colors On Your Table

Cheerful colors like turquoise fused glass trays are a perfect antidote to winter blues
Cheerful turquoise fused glass trays cheer up your table

Renton’s Linda Covey-Campbell just delivered these colorful, contemporary dishes – the perfect antidote to an otherwise dreary tabletop. Fill each one up with cheese, crackers, veggie sticks or whatever you can think of. At top left we have a 10″ square dish in two shades of turquoise with a custom-made glass “pebble” inset and three black dots in the corner, resulting in a sleek design with clean lines. Just $63. At top right we have a pair of 5″ square dishes at $16 each that coordinate beautifully with the big square which can be used for small tasty treats that compliment what’s on the big dish.

Go for the gusto and add the 7″ x 15″ tray ($58) which is perfect for all kinds of yummy treats. Watch the turquoise appear as the treats disappear. Get all four dishes for $160.

Cheerful Colors on You

Cheerful colors like this periwinkle top cheer you up when you wear it.
Everybody loves periwinkle!

Cheerful colors like periwinkle are a favorite of many because it’s so pleasing to the eye and looks good on so many skin tones. This flattering tunic has long sleeves and a cowl neck with a delicate flair at the torso making it not overly flowy. It has a straight edge hem all the way around. I paired it here with our popular bamboo leggings with the attached skirt which is super comfortable. Better not wait too long because I think these will sell out fast!(Update 1/16 – yep, they all sold out. Hope to get more soon. Stay tuned!)

Cheerful colors like seafoam in this coordinating jacket and top
Cheerful seafoam jacket and coordinating top

Cheerful colors like seafoam are popular too. The solid jacket is hip length with a zip closure, excellent pockets and even a hood. The print top coordinates perfectly because they were dyed in the same dye lot. The top has 3/4 sleeves and an assymetrical hem and V-neck. Both are cotton with spandex which means they’ll be easy to wash and care for in addition to feeling great on your body.

Cheerful Colors like Garnet

It’s January which means our birthstone this month is garnet, and we have some gorgeous selections from which you may choose your favorite.

Cheerful colors like garnet is also January's birthstone
Garnet is January’s birthstone

Check out this one-of-a-kind hammered sterling ring by Lynnwood’s Bonnie AuBuchon. It features a faceted garnet in a deep red hue that catches the light beautifully. Currently sized at a 10, it can be re-sized just for you. $90.

Cheerful colors like garnet make great jewelry for January birthday girls.
Faceted garnet in a sterling teardrop pendant

The depth of color in this beautiful garnet is enhanced by the additional facets carved on the underside of the stone by our master faceter – Bill Booze. Bill has been honing his faceting skills for over 30 years now, and can capture the most beautiful aspects of his A-grade stones so masterfully. Since he’s also a metalsmith, he sets the stones, too, usually in simple settings to best show off the stone. Here we have a sterling teardrop setting with the garnet nestled at the base for an interesting, contemporary look.

Style Tip – Choose The Right Jewelry

Here’s another tip in our ongoing series about choosing the right jewelry for your outfit. We’re looking at our periwinkle top with its interesting texture of undulating lines and puckers.

When choosing jewelry consider the texture and neckline
Shape and line mimic the texture of the top

There’s room for a 16″ – 19″ necklace in this top which features a shallow scoop neckline. First, mimic the shallow scoop by choosing a necklace that is also a scoop shape as opposed to a pendant that would change the shape to a “V”. Second, find something with undulating lines such as this interesting piece by Lizzy James, which also has interspersed shapes that are very similar to the shapes in the top itself. What could be more perfect?
