The weather is cooling down, leaves are starting to turn, and fall clothing is arriving at MaJe Gallery! This week, I have three fall tops for you to savor. Add your favorite one to your wardrobe and embrace fall with flair!
Skies may be dreary, but you don’t have to be. The first of our three fall tops is a lovely green shade called “rye grass”. This fabric is a perfect weight for fall because it’s neither too heavy nor too light so it will keep you comfortable in changing temperatures. The sassy style flatters your figure with a slimming effect while draping gracefully at the hips. Machine washable and great for travel. Just $94 and (for now) available in sizes XS – XXL.
“Red Rock” is a perfect fall red as it leans a tad toward brown. Some of our maple trees will be turning this color in a few weeks! This is the second of our three fall tops. Once again, it is an excellent transition weight that’s neither too heavy nor too light. 3/4 sleeves look great on everyone, while the empire waist hides love handles. The tunic length pairs best with black leggings or skinny jeans. Consider our bamboo leggings as a wardrobe staple! This top is also $94 and selling fast.
The last of our three falls top is an elegant, hand-woven cotton/rayon blend tunic from Dairi. The cowl neckline offers a lovely drape while the collaged stripes, solids and textures provide great interest both front and back. Solid black sleeves are 3/4 length and wide. This is a one-size-fits-most top. Because of the excellent draping quality, it truly works well on sizes 4 – 16. Just two in stock at $140.
Meet the Mighty Hair Clip
Meet the mighty hair clip in both small and large sizes. This unique clip lies flat against the scalp, unlike the typical clip that stands out. And what a grip it has, too! Currently available in many colors and styles, get one for yourself for just $16 (small) or $20 (large). You’ll use it for years to come.
I invite you to join us next week to view some of our newest jewelry arrivals!
It’s chilly out these days! We’re all grabbing our light jackets from the back of the closet to stay warm. Seize the day and toss those worn out and boring jackets! Embrace easy elegance with a new jacket from MaJe Gallery! We’ve got 2 fall jackets to show you.
2 Fall Jackets
This mid-weight jacket from Color Me Cotton features a multi-colored tapestry fabric, six buttons, and lovely big pockets. It falls a few inches above the knee. A pleat in the back means plenty of room for the torso. Easy elegance means easy care, so naturally you can wash this in the washing machine. This one is selling fast: only medium and large are left now. It runs big, so the medium can work on sizes 8 – 12 while the large can work on sizes 12-14.
Need a more casual elegance? The ever-popular hoodie jacket from Color Me Cotton is now available in this pretty terra cotta color. This jacket falls just above the knees. You’ll love this jacket especially if you the spring or fall color palette is yours. It’s 100% cotton, machine washable, great for travel, and very attractive on. And look below for a top to match…
This flattering top was dyed at the same time as the hoodie above, resulting in an awesome duo (see photo below). But you can purchase them separately too, because not all of you want both. The shape of this top is very flattering on many because of the generous torso and drape. 100% cotton, machine washable and great for travel. Get both the jacket and this top now for an instant wardrobe boost!
Here’s easy elegance for those of you who look best in cool tones like this periwinkle. It’s got black accents, thus will look great with black leggings or jeans. Funky accents set it apart from your typical T-shirt. Higher crew neck suits many of you too. 97% rayon, 3% spandex for a super soft feel and drapey texture. This top falls right at the hips, with a feminine flair at the hem. Yet another top that’s generous in the torso, it hides a lot of those little things we want to hide!
Fun Fall Jewelry
These fascinating pendants feature actual flowers and leaves. On the left, you’ll see a piece from a tiger lily petal. In the center, you may recognize fern tips. They lay atop a beautiful deep plum peony petal. On the right is a collage of flowers and leaves in lovely fall colors. These are made by Kathryn who grows all this in her back yard. She then dries them and mounts them on glass. Each pendant is 1 1/2″ in diameter, and includes a 18″ sterling silver chain.

Easy Elegance is my motto at MaJe Gallery, and the two new dresses, the awesome coat and even the cool Halloween earrings all fit the bill to a T. With Easy Elegance, I want to make it easy for you to look great and feel confident in your wardrobe and accessories. Because I’m also well aware that each of you has a distinctive style, I’m always looking for ways to fill in missing gaps in my collections.
This week I am finally filling one of those gaps. See if you can figure out which gap that is by looking at the photos.
Two New Dresses
I’m so pleased to welcome San Francisco designer Gr.Dano to the MaJe fold this week. The designer, Jill, creates sleek, sophisticated style in the most comfortable fabrics imaginable. Check it out.
A little asymmetry is always fun, and this “Miro” dress captures that with flair. Believe it or not, this classy dress is made from cotton knit fabric so you can easily wash it in your machine. This fits slimmer in the shoulders and breasts, so if you’re between sizes, go up one to ensure a good fit. Just $178.
This terrific dress, the “Sydney”, can be unbuttoned to wear as a coat as well. Charcoal gray is always sophisticated and elegant. You’ll be the power woman in the room wearing this piece. Just $198.
An Awesome Coat
As you’ve heard me say before, our jackets and coats are our signature pieces here in the northwest. We wear them a lot because of our temperature ranges. We are the queens of layering. I’m on a one-person mission to provide awesome coats, jackets and sweaters for that very purpose. There are simply too many boring coats, jackets and sweaters out there, assisted ably by our own northwest designers who are, sorry to say, boring. Take this next coat, for example…
Cool Halloween Earrings
Halloween is second only to Christmas in terms of what we all spend on decorating. You’ve gotta admit – it is a super fun holiday that brings out the kid in all of us. But of course, I strive to make it elegant also.
Made in Seattle by Mary Freiberger, these fun earrings are the perfect, classy accessory for your October shenanigans. But hurry, they are going fast. The red pair are already gone! Oops, now the white pair is gone! Just $30. I got two new pairs – one in lime green and the other is a new red. The aqua is still here…
SAVE THE DATE!
I have to face the facts. I’m getting older. Or at least MaJe Gallery is! We enter our 18th year in Edmonds next month! Come help us celebrate on Sunday, November 12, from 1 – 4 pm. There will be prizes, treats, a store-wide sale, and lots and lots of fun! Mark your calendars and join us!
This week, we unpacked some great new clothing and jewelry include four new tops (actually one top in four colors), one entire outfit, and new jewelry from two of your favorite artists.
You might recognize the top style as we’ve had it before. When I realized how pretty it looked on sizes 14 and 16, I decided to get more. It can be really tough, you’ve told me, to find pretty tops in that size that truly flatter your figure. Check it out:
Four New Tops
These four tops are now available for you to try. Please swing by to try one on in your favorite color so you can see for yourself. If you order it online and it doesn’t work, I’ll pay for return shipping! Go to the end of this post to order your favorite color.
One Cute Outfit
Testimony Los Angeles has this new color for fall: mocha. The ever-popular pocket pants and the Gilet vest shown here are both in mocha. It’s perfect for those of you who look great in warmer colors. I paired it here with the Angelrox ballet tunic in brick. To bring it all together, a one-of-a-kind jasper necklace in various shades of brown by Susanne deCillia. Get yours online or stop by to try it on!
New Jewelry By Favorite Artists
Our top-selling jewelry artist is Montreal’s Christophe Poly. We just got a new collectioon that includes this mixed metal beauty with aqua accents. Necklace is 17″ long with a magnetic clasp. The earrings are 2″ long. Made of aluminum, brass and cat’s eye, it is light-weight, contemporary, and affordable. $42 – $58.
Very cool earrings by Christophe Poly. On the left is another shot of the pair that coordinate with the above necklace. In mixed metals of aluminum and brass in a brushed finish, it has an aqua cat’s eye stone. On the right is a pair of brushed brass with olive cat’s eye stones. Both are 2″ long and $42 per pair.
Poulsbo’s Poppy makes one-of-a-kind jewelry that draws from both vintage and contemporary inspiration. On the left, vintage abalone buttons have become classy mis-matched earrings. In the center, red vintage plastic loops take on a very contemporary look attached to sterling chain links. On the right, all sterling silver hoops dangle freely for a classic ambience.
This long necklace by Poppy features large, gorgeous champagne pearls interspersed on a vintage-looking gunmetal chain. Wear it long or double it up (as shown). Even hook the clasp into a higher loop for a lariat. SOLD!
This unique necklace is adjustable at 18″ – 20″. Featuring red jade stones and a sterling centerpiece, it is simply classic. Pair it with black or red tops. SOLD!
Four New Tops – Individually for Purchase
Lots of fall items are arriving weekly, so stay tuned and drop by frequently!
This week, we have 2 jackets plus new jewelry to share with you!
The weather is cooling down and we’re digging into the back of our closets for sweaters, wraps and light jackets. As queens of layering (that’s what all savvy Northwest women are you know), at least half our closet is taken up with a sweater, jacket or wrap of one sort or another.
To me, that makes it one of the most important elements of our personal style because it is the piece that defines our look on any given day.
Your closet may have a lot of these, but how many are worthy of your current personality?
You may need an update!
The two jackets this week are very different in look. One will appear to the more bohemian among us. The other will appeal to those of us with a more hip, contemporary style.
I fell in love with this one immediately. So, as you can guess, one went home with me. What did my beloved spouse say when I walked in with it on? “Well, that’s a Manya jacket if I ever saw one. I guess you’re keeping it.” He loves it too! And now you know: I’m part bohemian.
This is the first of three tapestry jackets from Color Me Cotton that we’ll be getting this year. This is the longest one. It dips longer in the back and has pointed tips in front. Big pockets! Machine washable. $158.
A bit funky, but very cool, this cotton jacket zips up, has lovely big pockets, and a pleated reverse side adding a whole lot of style. Machine washable. $128.
Shari Both has been hard at work making some lovely new pieces of jewelry. This fall, she’s inspired by the lovely deep blue of lapis lazuli and sapphires. You can see her newest pieces along with her permanent collection on her page on this website.
See these four pieces individually and purchase your favorite on Shari’s page. You can also enjoy a number of additional pieces from her current collection there.
New things are arriving almost daily, so stop by to check out all the new items in person!
I’m going to tell you what I love about London Blue Topaz, but I have to reveal my secret first.
I have this perverse goal of refusing to dress like everyone else. If I see 20 of the same item on the rack, even if it’s what I came in to buy, I don’t want it anymore. Why not? Well obviously, because 20 other people will have it too. 20 on a rack means there are 20 on racks in other stores everywhere. That adds up!
The same thing goes for jewelry. I started making jewelry in my teens. I started buying unique jewelry then too. I still have an amethyst ring I got from a silversmith with babysitting money burning a hole in my pocket. I think I was 15 or so.
You know and I know that the “top” stones are diamond, followed by ruby, emerald and sapphire. Well, that may be true, but you know what else that means? Everyone, and I mean everyone has them, or at least one, in their jewelry box. Booooring.
So, this being September, with sapphire as the birthstone, I want to offer an alternative to my like-minded pals – namely – you! And what do I offer now? London Blue Topaz! But not just any London Blue Topaz, oh no. It’s gotta be special, right? And unique, of course.
The Master Faceter
Enter Bill Booze. For over thirty years, Bill has been honing an unusual skill: faceting. It’s so unusual that when I tell you about it in the store, you have to think for a minute. Everyone knows what facets are on a stone. Well, someone had to put them there, right? Nature sure didn’t. That’s what Bill does. He puts all the facets on the gemstones – top, sides, bottom.
But it actually starts a little before that, when he selects the rough stones to facet. His practiced eye can spot a stone of excellent quality even in the rough! His faceting technique is recognized immediately by gemologists, who are very familiar with the same old faceting styles most commonly used. They are always impressed with the quality.
And you, when you look at his gems at MaJe Gallery, you are always dazzled because of how sparkly and beautiful his work is. Bill’s jewelry is so very special because of his years of mastery as well as his love of colored gemstones (i.e. NOT the usual suspects).
What’s So Cool About London Blue Topaz Anyway?
For me, the answer to that question is because it is such a gorgeous teal blue color. Teal happens to be one of the most popular colors among you, my dear customers, in terms of both clothing and jewelry. Why do you suppose that is? Because it looks good on nearly all skin types, that’s why. I think it is a prettier shade of blue that sapphires.
Another reason it’s so cool is that it is easier on your wallet than sapphires. Sure, you can get cheap sapphires just like you can get cheap diamonds. That doesn’t make them of good quality. Top quality London Blue Topaz is more affordable than even mid-quality sapphire.
It’s a nice, hard stone too, with a Mohs hardness rating of 8. That’s important because it means it will stand the test of time.
Finally, London Blue Topaz is a magical mix of nature and nurture. Natural topaz is white, or clear. To get the lovely shades of blue, it is irradiated to achieve a permanentcolor enhancement. Now you can enjoy this intense color in AA and AAA grade stones, faceted by the master Bill Booze, and set in simple, elegant settings of sterling silver of 14k yellow gold.
I want to show you three rings and three pendants from our current collection. Obviously, they are all one of a kind, so supply is limited to what’s on hand.
Let’s look at some new rings first. Keep in mind that we can re-size any of these rings to fit YOURfinger.
Mesmerizing London Blue Topaz Rings
Set in sterling silver, this large 7.3 carat stone is stunningbecause of its size and sparkle. Bill Booze learned long ago how to include additional facets on the underside of each gem in order to let you dazzle yourself with the sparkle. Let us size it to fit you! $425.
I know some of you like a wide ring band because it makes a bigger statement. This 5.1 carat London Blue Topaz is for you. The rich teal hue of this new stone is very lovely. There’s only one like it. Let us make it your size! $500.
Let’s end with the ring section with the most spectacular stone. It’s a AAA grade stone because of the clarity and depth of color. Set in 14k yellow gold because it’s so precious, you’ll mesmerize yourself as you gaze at it throughout the day. Let us make it your size! Next time you visit, just take a look at it to enjoy the beauty of this unique gem. $875.
Mesmerizing London Blue Pendants
Since some of you prefer a pendant over a ring, we now have three beauties to show you.
The vast majority of faceted stones are round, but this one is oval, hence keeping elegant simplicity a key design element while capturing a unique distinction. Weighing in at 4 carats, the size is small but not too small to avoid notice. $400. 18″ sterling snake chain included.
This unique yet simple setting features a smaller London Blue Topaz that weighs in at 3.2 carats. While it has a round faceted stone, the setting is rather unusual because it is on a curved sterling arc. It’s very sweet. $400. 18″ sterling snake chain included.
Need a bit more punch?Check out this 5 carat faceted London Blue Topaz set at the bottom of a sterling teardrop frame. This is the largest stone of the three pendants shown. While still an elegantin size, it stands out more dramaticallybecause of both the larger stone and setting. $460. 18″ sterling snake chain included.
Next week, I’ll introduce you to two cool new jackets from California’s Color Me Cotton. One is the first of three styles of their super popular tapestry jackets. The other is a very cool cotton zip jacket! Stay tuned!
Get a sneak peek at those jackets by following us on facebook!
It captures feelings of prestige, confidence, and even sexiness.
Studies have shown how red influences both the wearer as well as the viewer. It’s an emotionally intense color. It symbolizes action and courage. It makes the wearer herself feel confident. People stop and take notice.
On the other side of the spectrum, red signifies danger, anger and oppression (think fire trucks and Communism).
So, finding the best balance for the situation is called for. Is a touch of red enough? Or do you need the whole hog – a gorgeous red evening gown? Even choosing the best shade of red makes a difference (think pink vs crimson).
Let’s take a look at some examples, all from MaJe Gallery’s current collection of recent arrivals.
How To Take Over a Room
Testimony’s popular Reba jacket now comes in this gorgeous shade of red: wine. This results in a softer reaction from others (as opposed to the vibrant crimson), yet still commands attention. No one will say this is too manly because of the feminine styling and rich color. This jacket exudes confidence without feeling overbearing. Perfect!
This wrap has splashes of red along with black and tan which soften the intensity of this brighter Venetian Red. Wear this over all black in order to cut a stunning figure in any room you care to enter. It’s subtle, yet cannot be avoided.
Add pizzazzto this mixed-color Marcia Bloom skirt by choosing to bring out the cranberry tones. Sure, you could wear a black top with it too, but wearing the cranberry casts the outfit in a whole new light. Picture it with tall black boots this fall! This is an excellent outfit for weddings, class reunions, or holiday parties. Not only will you be extremely comfortable, you’ll feel generously powerful as the entire room takes notice.
And just for fun…
Named after the red planet Mars, this newest color palette from our favorite sock company, SolMate, is also called Mars. Paired with turquoise from the opposite side of the color wheel, and accented with black, this fun new color combo is quickly selling out. But never fear! More will come before it’s time to get them for stocking stuffers. Still just $19.95.
We have even more red clothing items to choose from, but you’ll have to stop by to see them in person. I look forward to the visit, and helping you put together the best red outfit for the next situation in which you need to instill confidence in yourself as well as the audience.
P.S. Follow us on Facebook to be first to know what’s arriving. Also, we need some facebook reviews! Would you please give us one? Thanks!
New this week at MaJe Gallery are four tops and three great skirts. Actually, there are twelve new skirts – each one of a kind. But only three have pictures here. You have to come in to see the rest!
Let’s start with four tops
These are all made in California by Necessitees – a popular brand that’s been around for quite a while. 94% cotton, 6% spandex ensures a long-lasting shirt. Machine washable.
We’ll start with the love fall color of ruby. This T-shirt features a crew neck, 3/4 sleeves, and a relaxed fit – perfect to hide any extras in the torso. $48.
Here we have a long-sleeve T-shirt in the beautiful wine color. It features a U-neck that’s not too deep. It’s just right. This one is more form-fitting. If you like it, but don’t like too form-fitting, choose one size larger than your usual and all will be well. $39.
This neckline is called the “Morocco” – it’s a soft V, a little rounded as it hits the neck. It is particularly flattering. The V is not very deep, perfect to show off you pendant. This is one of the more form-fitting styles, which makes it particularly good for layering. It has 3/4 sleeves in a color called “Beryl” – a lovely blue with a hint of green. $37.
This is another with the Morocco softened V-neckline, but this time in black. This is one of the more form-fitting styles, which makes it particularly good for layering. It has 3/4 sleeves. It’s sure to become your favorite black T-shirt! $37.
And now for Three Skirts
Marcia Bloom creates funky one-of-a-kind skirts that are extremely comfortable to wear, and a whole lot of fun. Dress them up, or dress them down. Pair your skirt with a solid color top and you are set to go. I’ve seen them paired with a T-shirt and jean jacket for a casual look. Or go for a dressier solid top and a drapey jacket to get more dressy. Pair it with boots in the winter!
All of these fall just below the knee. The magic waistband works on sizes 4 – 16. Seriously. People sometimes struggle to figure out how to style themselves with these awesome skirts. Here’s a suggestion.
This pretty skirt in shades of blue is another one from the latest collection. I paired it here with a simple black T-shirt (like the one above) and a short Testimony jacket in mineral wash blue. If you’re in Edmonds, you’ll see this on the mannequin in the window for a few more days.
Come on in and try on one of the skirts. I’ll show you several ways to wear it – from casual to dressy. Add a bit of fun to your wardrobe!
We are so pleased to announce a new artist – Nicole Flood from Portland, Oregon. Nicole makes awesome, one-of-a-kind hats from recycled fabrics. We’ve got everything from brights to neutrals, so come on in and choose your favorite. Just $44 each.
Stay in touch by following us on facebook and be first to see what we pull out of the box each day!
It’s time for a fall transition, ready or not. Evenings will be getting cooler soon. Are you ready? Check out these two tops and two jackets to help you get there.
FALL TRANSITION – TOPS
The soft rayon jersey from Zen Knits feels great yet isn’t too heavy. This fun print in white, tan and black also features pockets in front. Loose in the torso, this top is perfect for hiding those pesky love handles that just won’t go away. Pair with black leggings. Add your favorite black boots when the weather cools down more.
Add some color to your fall wardrobe with this stunning teal top. A shorter length for a non-tunic look, with a subtle abstract print. 3/4 sleeves. 100% cotton. Machine washable. Great over black pants or jeans.
FALL TRANSITION – JACKETS
We Northwest women know how a great jacket can complete an outfit. This rich gray textured cotton fabric is not only interesting, but it looks great on. Paired here over a burgundy tank with a black onyx necklace to accent. Simple, elegant, stylish, and oh yes, easy. Machine washable, great for travel. It also has very nice pockets!
This fabric is actual tie dye, not a print. Funky black, white and cream tie dye jacket features a sassy peplum back. Light-weight rayon jersey looks great over white, cream or your favorite solid color. Pair it with black leggings or pants for a funky, put-together look. Machine washable, great for travel.
