It’s July. It’s hot. If only we didn’t have to wear any clothes at all!
Alas, since it’s a requirement for polite society, then at least make it something fun to wear!
Two Super Cute Summer Dresses
One of these had to go home with me. I bet you’ll see me wearing it quite a lot this summer. Can I save one for you?
When I model it for you, you can see it’s not too low-cut to be anxiety inducing. See how my love handles disappeared? Magic!
Two Super Cute Summer Tops
Here’s another top with the same print, but a different style and color. This hi-lo top has inserts on each side that flatter and hide the things we want to hide. Another Color Me Cotton (CMC) top in their famous light-weight cotton jersey, this has a background color of light tan. It looks great with denim, khaki, olive and ivory slacks or capris. 3/4 sleeves, not too deep scoop neck. Machine washable. Perfect for a girl’s day out or just kicking around on the town. $68 and available in sizes XS – XXL.
NEW ARTIST ALERT!

With a new dress, tops, bracelets make a grand entrance.
Meet Tony the Fireman! Retired Seattle fireman Tony Tomassi snagged an actual fire pole from a decommissioned fire station and put it to good use.
What does an enterprising retired fireman do with such a pole? Well, make bracelets of course!
Tony slices a piece of the fire pole off, stamps words onto the surface, then cuts a section out to make it smaller. He then shapes it into an oval and polishes it up nice and bright. You’ll find 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″ widths now at MaJe Gallery, for a unique gift or personal indulgence. Commission your special bracelet today with your own words in the perfect size for just $10 extra. $48, $54 and $58 for in-stock bracelets.
A few months back, we got Testimony’s “Coco” jacket in the amazing “poppy” color, a vibrant orange. It sold out almost immediately. We just got a new batch, the last of the season.
We paired it with dark colors in early spring, but this jacket looks great with so many colors including white, turquoise, periwinkle, lime green, yellow, purple, navy and more. Release your Bold Self and get your poppy Coco jacket today! $154. (Sold out!)
Two nice deliveries are coming this next week, so stay tuned to see them in next week’s Newsletter!
Easy elegance is our goal here at MaJe Gallery. Easy sometimes means versatile pieces that look great together and can also be worn with other things in your closet. A great example is this week’s outfit which is a skirt + top + jacket for a wonderful summer outfit you can take anywhere.
Skirt + Top + Jacket
All fabrics are luscious rayon jersey for soft comfort. The periwinkle, mint green and black print in the skirt is full of lively movement. Calm that down with solid coordinating pieces like this periwinkle tank top and a black shrug. Bring some of the green up with a green chalcedony pendant to pull it all together. Get the jacket here, and the skirt and top below.
Here it is without the jacket so you can see everything clearly. This outfit is so comfortably, you might just wear it all summer long! Pair the skirt with a black top, or even mint green. Wear the tank with jeans, or how about your favorite white pants? The versatility is perfect because I know how much you like to be practical.
A Great New Top
This particular top looks great on so many different body shapes, and it just arrived in this enticing new magenta shade – just in time for summer! The CMC (Color Me Cotton) cowl top features 3/4 sleeves in a tunic length, making it particularly excellent to wear over black leggings or skinny jeans. It doesn’t wrinkle, making it an excellent choice for travel. Just $89. These never last long, so if you like it, don’t hesitate!
What Else Is New?
In addition to the lovely skirt + top + jacket, I have a new line of purses I think you’ll really enjoy.
Yep, you read that caption correctly: upcycled leather purses exude artistic flare and excellent craftsmanship. This is such an awesome way to make good use of things other throw away, don’t you think? New leather prices consistently rise, making even a simple bag rather expensive. These creative folks found a great way to piece together leather remnants to make durable, stylish handbags that suit your needs well. With a variety of sizes, shapes and number of pockets, you’ll surely find a perfect one for yourself. Priced $38 – $98.
This little cutie is a front and back image of one of the new purses in our upcycled leather collection. It is 8″ high x 6″ wide with an adjustable leather strap that’s also removable so you can use it as a clutch or throw it into a larger bag. Zipper top opens to a spacious inner body that has another pocket. A second outside zipper pocket helps keep everything organized. This is the perfect purse for those who like a small bag. $38.
This is another little bag, but a bit larger than the one above. It’s called the Harley. This one measures 8″ high x 6.5″ wide, but it is also 1″ deep offering more room in the interior. In fact, the buckle reveals a small front pocket and an outside zipper pocket. There are two deep pockets inside with a zippered small pocket in the middle. Use the strap for a shoulder or cross-body hands-free situation, or streamline it as a clutch. $58. (SOLD!)
This beautiful mid-size handbag, the Vivo, features the upcycled leather collage on a durable frame. A wide shoulder strap makes for a comfortable, hands-free solution – or remove it to use the bag as a clutch. The front panel opens to reveal a spacious interior with one zipper pocket and one open pocket. $98.
Thanks for enjoying our newest arrivals this week at MaJe Gallery. Stay tuned for next week!
Wear white now! That’s our mantra as our warmer weather and sunny days cheer us all up and make us think of summer. Forget the old rules! Don’t wait until after Memorial Day. Wear White Now!
Wear White Now: Tops
Four white tops are now available at MaJe Gallery. One is sure to be the right one for you!
The “Dolman Tank” by Necessitees is a constant best seller because it is such a perfect wardrobe basic. The jewel neckline makes it an excellent layering piece, as well as the slightly longer length. Now available in white, black, royal blue, lavender, pink and charcoal, the soft, lightweight 100% cotton fabric won’t pill even after many washings. Great for travel as well as life. At just $32, it’s perfect over jeans, under a jacket or sweater, and every day living. NOTE: This is a body conscious top. If you want a looser fit, order one or two sizes larger than you usually buy.
Do you want to make sure your arms are covered? Then this lightweight 100% cotton tee is for you. 3/4 sleeves and a crew neck look attractive as well as modest. The length is that of a regular tee shirt, ending at the hips. Super soft, washable, great for travel and perfect for every day. Just $37. (Update: Sold out for now.)
3/4 sleeves? Check. Tunic length? Check. High neckline? Check. Medium-weight fabric? Check. Testimony has done it again, introducing a medium-weight French terry fabric for the summer. The body is smooth knit while the sleeves and hem feature white-on-white stripes to add the perfect amount of visual texture. 100% cotton, machine washable, great for travel and every day. Wear it over leggings, skinny jeans, regular jeans, or even trousers. $98.
A trio of cutouts frame the neckline in this delightful top from Florida’s Inside Out. Sleeves reach the elbow while the length falls to the hips, allowing for breathing room in the torso. Dress up your jeans just a tad, or wear it over leggings or a skirt.
Wear White Now: Jacket
This jacket is only available in spring. Last year I only had four to offer, and they disappeared in a few days. This year I ordered a few more. Let’s see how long they last…
This roomy jacket is made of super soft cotton knit. As you can see from the back view, pleats on the reverse side allow for a lot of forgiveness in our torso region (what love handles?). Strong, industrial zipper won’t get stuck, and two big pockets can carry your keys, phone and ID. These run fairly large, so keep that in mind when ordering. Just $98.
Wear White Now: Jewelry
Two views of a one-of-a-kind necklace by Poulsbo favorite jeweler, Poppy. Teardrop mother-of-pearl beads are drilled at the top, creating a lovely cascade when strung side by side. Poppy never does anything routine, so she added a row of white pearls asymmetrically for visual interest. Wear it long or double it up because at 36″, it doubles to 18″. This versatile necklace can be worn with white, black or any color you wish. Just $190. (Update: Sold) Check out the matching earrings below…
Also one-of-a-kind, these mother-of-pearl earrings feature a single top-drilled Mother-of-pearl beads topped with a textured circle that dangles from sterling shepherd hook ear wires. Beautiful alone, they also make an excellent set with the necklace above. (Update: Sold)
Mother’s Day Preparation Thoughts
Does your mother love to wear jewelry? Is it getting more difficult for her to clasp her necklaces as she gets older?
If you answered “yes” to both of those questions, then the perfect Mother’s Day gift is right here: give her the gift of magnetic clasps on her favorite necklaces. There are two ways to do it:
“Borrow” her favorite necklaces. Bring them to Manya. Have her replace the current clasp with a magnetic one at just $10 a pop. Give them back to your mom on Mother’s Day.
Get a gift certificate from MaJe Gallery indicating the number of necklaces your mother may bring in to have Manya replace the difficult clasp with a simple magnetic one. Give it to her on Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day is a mere three weeks away, so don’t waste any time getting these necklaces to Manya so she has time to make the change in time.
Stay tuned for more Mother’s Day gift ideas next week!
A lovely new periwinkle dress and jacket just arrived and is now available at MaJe Gallery. A luscious blending of purple and blue, periwinkle is a favorite among discerning MaJe customers…probably because it looks good on nearly everyone!
Careful pleats in the lower part of the dress create a fascinating shape that in turn moves beautifully as you stroll about. Inspired by a dress purchased in Barcelona, capture the European vibe right here in Edmonds when you wear this dress. And the best part? It is just $98.
Introducing the ultra-soft cotton knit jacket in periwinkle by Color Me Cotton. This lovely jacket is a perfect weight for the Northwest, to keep you warm on the cooler days of spring and fall. Details include a heavy-duty zipper, big pockets and a high, ruched neck. Pleats in the back create a swing effect as well as offer plenty of room in the torso. Machine washable and great for travel. Just $110. (UPDATE: Only one left – XXL.)
Favorite MaJe artist Julie Terrell just dropped off a new collection of her vibrant art. Keep spring in your heart year round with this one, entitled “Blooming Hearts,” which expresses how I feel about spring exactly. My heart always blooms when I see the flowers pop up here and there even while the rain continues to pour down and the temperatures remain chilly. This original acrylic on canvas painting measures 12″ x 9″, and can be yours for $78.
Here’s another original acrylic painting by Julie Terrell. This one measures 10″ x 8″ and offers some sage advice and encouragement to us all. Just $64.
“Follow your heart on you unique path…The universe knows the way!” so exclaims this vibrant original painting by Julie Terrell. This one measures 14″ x 11″ and is a perfect gift for a graduate or someone retiring or entering a new, perhaps unknown phase of life. Just $88.
This larger painting by Julie Terrell measures 18″ x 18″ and is chock full of good wishes and all the things you might want in a Happy Place to call your own. $198.
Thanks for enjoying our periwinkle clothing and colorful art this week!
I see green sprouts coming up and crocuses blooming here and there. The early camellias are in blossom. We spring forward in time this Sunday. All the signs are here that spring is imminent! And we’re none too impatient for it here at MaJe Gallery because we’re getting new deliveries with a splash of color for you.
A Splash of Color For You
California’s Color Me Cotton made their ultra-popular cowl top in a spring green for 2018. This tunic-length top feels super soft against your skin because the fabric is a rayon blend. Wide 3/4 sleeves leave room for movement in the arms. The flattering design hides everything you want to hide in the torso. Just in a few days ago and already flying out the door! Also coming in a pretty blue shade in a few weeks. If you’re interested in that one, let me know so I can set it aside before anyone else snags it. Just $89. Machine Washable and great for travel. (Update: JUST ONE LEFT!)
If you prefer a shorter top rather than a tunic, look no further than this new piece from California’s Testimony called the “Melody” top. The neckline is close to a crew neck, which will please those of you who don’t like a deep plunge. The best part is that the ruffles around the torso actually offer a slimmer profile by disguising what’s beneath! 3/4 sleeves are a great year-round length, too. Machine washable rayon jersey fabric is nice and soft. Great for travel. Just $98.
It’s a Top, It’s a Jacket!
One way to think about packing for a trip is to collect black basics, then add a splash of color to change it up. This black linen top can be worn alone as a top, or left open with a tank or shell beneath to add variety to your closet or suitcase. Paired here with a HaZe tank in geranium and a Susie Howell lined black pencil skirt in medium. It’s comfortable, classy and easy to pack. The linen top-jacket is $98, the tank is $28, and the skirt is $89.
Two Great Jackets
Testimony Los Angeles is our go-to choice for jackets from spring to fall due to the perfect weight of the cotton french terry fabric. Here are two excellent new choices for you.
“Poppy” is the vibrant new orange/red shade from Testimony Los Angeles. What better way to add a happy color to your wardrobe? The Coco jacket is a short, boxy jacket similar in look to a jean jacket, but much softer and stretchy – which means it is super comfortable to wear. It has pockets too! It has all the wonderful details that Testimony is famous for. Shown here over the “Melody” top I showed you above. Just $159. Machine washable. (Update: Sold out! I ordered more for first week of June. Call me to reserve your size.)
Calling all lovers of BLUE! Another color Testimony is offering now is this lovely blue called “azure.” It’s even prettier in person, so stop by to check it out and see for yourself. This longer jacket falls above the knee and has a lovely drape along with nice pockets. An asymmetrical hem overlay in the back keeps you looking great both coming and going. Made of their delicious cotton french terry fabric, it is soft, stretchy, great for travel and machine washable. Shown here over the “Melody” top I showed you above. Just $189. (Update: Sold out!)
Here’s that same jacket buttoned up with the button on the side and beneath the collar. It’s a great jacket! I have it in black right now too, if you’d rather have that.
More spring items are arriving weekly, so stay tuned and you’ll get a new update next week!
This week, we have 2 jackets plus new jewelry to share with you!
The weather is cooling down and we’re digging into the back of our closets for sweaters, wraps and light jackets. As queens of layering (that’s what all savvy Northwest women are you know), at least half our closet is taken up with a sweater, jacket or wrap of one sort or another.
To me, that makes it one of the most important elements of our personal style because it is the piece that defines our look on any given day.
Your closet may have a lot of these, but how many are worthy of your current personality?
You may need an update!
The two jackets this week are very different in look. One will appear to the more bohemian among us. The other will appeal to those of us with a more hip, contemporary style.
I fell in love with this one immediately. So, as you can guess, one went home with me. What did my beloved spouse say when I walked in with it on? “Well, that’s a Manya jacket if I ever saw one. I guess you’re keeping it.” He loves it too! And now you know: I’m part bohemian.
This is the first of three tapestry jackets from Color Me Cotton that we’ll be getting this year. This is the longest one. It dips longer in the back and has pointed tips in front. Big pockets! Machine washable. $158.
A bit funky, but very cool, this cotton jacket zips up, has lovely big pockets, and a pleated reverse side adding a whole lot of style. Machine washable. $128.
Shari Both has been hard at work making some lovely new pieces of jewelry. This fall, she’s inspired by the lovely deep blue of lapis lazuli and sapphires. You can see her newest pieces along with her permanent collection on her page on this website.
See these four pieces individually and purchase your favorite on Shari’s page. You can also enjoy a number of additional pieces from her current collection there.
New things are arriving almost daily, so stop by to check out all the new items in person!
Cheerful colors are good medicine for these dark, dreary days of January. We got some colorful deliveries last week I want to share with you.
Cheerful Colors On Your Table
Renton’s Linda Covey-Campbell just delivered these colorful, contemporary dishes – the perfect antidote to an otherwise dreary tabletop. Fill each one up with cheese, crackers, veggie sticks or whatever you can think of. At top left we have a 10″ square dish in two shades of turquoise with a custom-made glass “pebble” inset and three black dots in the corner, resulting in a sleek design with clean lines. Just $63. At top right we have a pair of 5″ square dishes at $16 each that coordinate beautifully with the big square which can be used for small tasty treats that complimentwhat’s on the big dish.
Go for the gusto and add the 7″ x 15″ tray ($58) which is perfect for all kinds of yummy treats. Watch the turquoise appear as the treats disappear. Get all four dishes for $160.
Cheerful Colors on You
Cheerful colors like periwinkle are a favorite of many because it’s so pleasing to the eye and looks good on so many skin tones. This flatteringtunic has long sleeves and a cowl neck with a delicate flair at the torso making it not overly flowy. It has a straight edge hem all the way around. I paired it here with our popularbamboo leggings with the attached skirt which is super comfortable. Better not wait too long because I think these will sell out fast!(Update 1/16 – yep, they all sold out. Hope to get more soon. Stay tuned!)
Cheerful colors like seafoamare popular too. The solid jacket is hip length with a zip closure, excellent pockets and even a hood. The print top coordinates perfectly because they were dyed in the same dye lot. The top has 3/4 sleeves and an assymetrical hem and V-neck. Both are cotton with spandex which means they’ll be easy to wash and care for in addition to feeling great on your body.
Cheerful Colors like Garnet
It’s Januarywhich means our birthstonethis month is garnet, and we have some gorgeous selections from which you may choose your favorite.
Check out this one-of-a-kind hammered sterling ring by Lynnwood’s Bonnie AuBuchon. It features a faceted garnet in a deep red hue that catches the light beautifully. Currently sized at a 10, it can be re-sized just for you. $90.
The depth of color in this beautiful garnet is enhanced by the additional facets carved on the underside of the stone by our master faceter – Bill Booze. Bill has been honing his faceting skills for over 30 years now, and can capture the most beautiful aspects of his A-grade stones so masterfully. Since he’s also a metalsmith, he sets the stones, too, usually in simple settings to best show off the stone. Here we have a sterling teardrop setting with the garnet nestled at the base for an interesting, contemporarylook.
Style Tip – Choose The Right Jewelry
Here’s another tip in our ongoing series about choosing the right jewelry for your outfit. We’re looking at our periwinkle top with its interesting texture of undulating lines and puckers.
There’s room for a 16″ – 19″ necklace in this top which features a shallow scoop neckline. First, mimic the shallow scoop by choosing a necklace that is also a scoop shape as opposed to a pendant that would change the shape to a “V”. Second, find something with undulating lines such as this interesting piece by Lizzy James, which also has interspersed shapes that are very similar to the shapes in the top itself. What could be more perfect?
Tune in to our facebook page to be the first to know what just got delivered!
New this week at MaJe Gallery is another awesome jacket from Testimony Los Angeles – the Leona. Made with their high quality French terry (94% cotton, 6% spandex), it looks like suede, but is soft and flowy – and machine washable. This jacket buttons at the collar and features two big pockets. Notice the detailing on the back too.
Update as of 9/30: These are now sold out! Sorry! If you still want one, let me know and I’ll do my best to get it.
Here’s another shot of it unbuttoned, revealing sassy flowing lines in front.
Also new this week is this super soft, flowy and flattering top from California’s Color Me Cotton. The unusual fabric feels amazing on the skin. The cut hides all those imperfections in our middle region. It’s long enough to cover the butt in the back. Pairs well with jeans, black pants or tights, or even a long black skirt as shown here.
New This Week at MaJe: Some Fabulous Jewelry!
Having trouble figuring out what piece of jewelry to wear? In this case, we found a beaded silver necklace that’s perfect. The beads have a wavy texture, just like the top. The silver color continues the neutral theme of the top. The different shapes add interest without overpowering anything. The length is also good, meeting halfway between the chin and the bottom of the neckline. (Update 11/7: Sorry, but this necklace has found a home.)
Stay tuned for more tips on how to build your very own versatile jewelry collection! I’ll be offering more tips in future posts here.
In the meantime, here is more new jewelry!
Rich hues are also new this week at MaJe, found in these lovely new earrings by Bill Booze. As you may recall, Bill is a master faceter. That means he buys stones rough, and carefully carves off each little ledge to create every facet. His more than thirty years of experience means 1) his stones are very high quality and 2) his skill brings out maximum sparkle.
On the left we have rhodolite garnets set in sterling silver. On the right is a pair of amethysts from the Four Peaks mine in Arizona with their characteristic deep hue filled with lively red and magenta flashes as the light hits them. These are also set in sterling silver.
