The textured cotton/rayon blend tops from Color Me Cotton always sell out fast. Why? They are snazzy, flattering and comfortable. Take this black and white number for example. Three-quarter sleeves, longer in the back to cover the behind, generous in the torso to hide love handles – what more could a girl ask for? Machine washable too. $89.

Here’s the same fabric, but this time in “zinc”, a blue-ish gray that pairs beautifully with Testimony’s pocket pants in “cloud.” This top is longer in the back, with insets on the side to make room for extra weight in the middle. Full-length sleeves and a scoop neck. Very flattering on most bodies. Come on in and try one on to see for yourself. Machine washable. $89.

This light weight linen top is great as a top, but you can also wear it like a jacket, as shown here over a white tank top. It’s longer in the back with three quarter sleeves and a lapel collar. Loose fitting, it works great for both purposes. Paired here with a white bamboo tank and the Testimony pocket pants in “cloud.” $98.

Snazzy New Scarves

Snazzy New Scarves by Susie Howell are one-of-a-kind
A few snazzy new scarves from Susie Howell

Everett’s Susie Howell finds gorgeous fabrics, cuts them on the bias, then pieces them together to create uniquely beautiful scarves. Cutting them on the bias, they drape elegantly no matter how you choose to drape them on your body. These are six from a new collection of twelve. You have to come in to see the others. No two alike. Incorporating silk, lace, vintage fabrics, specialty fabrics and more, these are wearable works of art. $89. Here are three close-ups and one way to wear them.

This extra-long scarf can be worn a myriad of ways. The black, white and gray fabric make it an especial winner for the northwest wardrobe. Shown here in the “one-twist-two” technique (come in for a demo), it dresses up jeans and a T-shirt, as well as a professional wardrobe. $89. (SOLD)

Art For Home, Kitchen, Body – Made in the Northwest

This week, new art for home, kitchen, body has arrived – and it’s made right here in our own backyard! No, you won’t find these items in a mall. Ever. Northwest artists making lovely things for our Northwest lovers.

Art For Home

Art for home, kitchen, body like this panoramic autumnal view of a Northwest scene
Northwest panorama painting with an autumn view

Now retired, former Mukilteo schools art teacher Rolf Oversvee heads out to a great view, gets out his painting gear, and paints the scene. This is a larger painting, measuring 24″ x 48″ – often the perfect size for above a fireplace or sofa. His use of warm and cool tones together create cheerful yet peaceful works that celebrate the natural beauty of our surroundings. $998.

Art For Kitchen

The "Garden Goddess" tea towl by new artist Debbie Tomassi
The “Garden Goddess” tea towl by new artist Debbie Tomassi

We are thrilled to welcome a new artist to MaJe Gallery this week – Debbie Tomassi (from Seattle) brings her linen tea towels to Edmonds. And these aren’t just any tea towels either.  Starting with an original painting, Debbie prints that image onto linen using ink with intense saturation to capture all her glorious colors. Precision is key, so lining up the image properly is just one step in the process. Once printed, Debbie then hand-finishes the edges and seals it all in to create a luxurious, vibrant linen tea towel that will withstand many washings and bring you joy for years to come.

We have five designs in Debbie’s delightful tea towels for you to enjoy. Art for home, kitchen, body likes to offer options!

Puss-and-Birdy-Tea-Towels

Here’s a pair of tea towels, sold separately, featuring more of Debbie Tomassi’s vibrant art. Who knew a kitchen tea towel could be so beautiful?

Another pair of Debbie’s cheerful tea towels. This time on the left we have a bluebird belting out a lovely song, while on the right we have a whole crazy flower festival! 100% linen towels are dyed with high saturation, and each towel is meticulously hand-finished. Great quality and just $28 each.

Art For The Body

Upcycled cashmere fingerless gloves are one-of-a-kind

Everett’s Susie Howell just delivered a dozen fingerless gloves, or “glovelettes” as she calls them. Starting with cast-off cashmere sweaters, Susie repurposes them to make unique wearable art that often includes vintage treasures from her private collection like these lovely buttons here on the moss green cashmere. Just $48. (Update: This pair now sold)

Art for home, kitchen, body ends with this colorful wrap
Our outfit of the week features the Megan Wrap

We do love our black here in the Pacific Northwest, but a splash of color can be such a lovely thing. Check out the newest wrap from Florida’s Inside Out Everyday. In rich tones of magenta, teal, and olive with accents of charcoal and black, you can throw this on over whatever black basics you have in the closet and turn the day into a sunny one. Made of rayon, it’s machine washable too.

Getting Crabby In Edmonds With Crab Art

When you live on the water like we do in Edmonds, there’s a likely chance you enjoy eating crab. We can catch them right off our pier down on the waterfront a mere four blocks away! So naturally, our artists enjoy making crab art too!

The Crab In Art

Crab Art like these sculptural pieces are such fun
Fused glass and steel sculptural crabs

Brand new work from our glass and steel artist, Celeste Stuhring, these large and small sculptural crabs are self-standing. A great example of crab art! The large crab measures 11″ at the widest part, and 7.5″ from front claw to back claw. It stands 3″ tall at the highest point (it’s taller at the front claws).

The small crab is 7″ at the widest part, and 4.5″ from front claw to back claw. It stands 2.5″ tall at the tallest part (front claws). These are sold out at the moment. Only the large is still available.

These sculptural works can be indoor or outdoor. If outdoors, the steel will gradually rust, adding a lovely finish to the piece.

Crab Art As Functional Art

Functional crab art - bowl on stand
Large Crab Bowl on Stand

If you think crab is delicious, then you might also think crab and artichoke dip is delicious. Personally, I’m quite addicted to it. This gorgeous fused glass bowl, complete with a charming stand, is the perfect serving dish for it!  Of course, it is also great for salsa or any other dip too.

The dish is 12″ x 10″, with the bowl part 5.5″ in diameter and 1.75″ deep. The wrought iron stand makes it 4″ high.

Crab Art as night light
Fused Glass Crab Night Light

Avoid stubbing your toes on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night with this adorable crab art night light! This particular one sold on 8/4, but if you want one of your own, just let me know and we’ll order one for you!

Crab Art candle shield
Crab Candle shield, front and side view

For the candle lovers out there, how about this adorable fused glass and steel candle shield?  The steel is open behind the glass so when the candle is lit, it glows through the glass in the center.  A built-in candle stand with attached votive holder (see the side view) makes it easy to arrange. While similar, no two are alike.

And Now, For the Wearable Art

Susie Howell pieces beautiful fabrics together to make one-of-a-kind scarves like these three here. No two alike, and such fun to wear.  These (except the turquoise/yellow one which sold on 8/4)  and many more can now be found at MaJe!

A smashing summer outfit
A smashing summer outfit

Summer’s not over yet! Enjoy the last days of warmth and sunshine with this charming and attractive outfit.  The skirt is by Testimony, made of their soft French Terry fabric. It’s a “faux wrap” skirt in a seafoam color. The top is a white bamboo A-line tank from Angelrox. The scarf that pulls everything together is made from two vintage silk panels with vintage lace at the bottom (another awesome scarf by Susie Howell).  A charming necklace by Seattle’s Jem’s Jewelry adorns the blouse.  The finishing touch is the white hat. It’s a bowler style that looks good on nearly everyone. It’s crushable and packable, and features SunGuard to protect your skin. Perfect for summer gatherings!
